Soft Vase

This is an innovative way to use up those moth eaten or "Shrunken by my well-intentioned DH" wool sweaters! Students in this class pre-shrank wool sweaters, then embellished them with wool roving using the Clover Felting Tool. They then added an embroidery or two with Sulky Blendable or Rayon thread. Bind the sides, insert a hander and a heavy duty freezer bag for water, and you have a Soft Vase! This vase will hand nicely on your wall or even on your front door for that welcoming touch.

Oma Pillow

Jane made up this pillow with a photo of Elsa and her grand-daughter Annelise. When she brought it into the store for Elsa, Elsa couldn't help but shed a tear! That is the reaction you will get when you make up this pillow for someone. It is truly unique and special. Students in Jane's class used home dec ends and printed the picture onto Colour Plus Printer fabric with her home inkjet printer. They then pieced it together, embroidered it with a special saying (ours says "Oma loves you!" and added some Lorna beads for the crowning touch. What a perfect gift!

Fishy Taper Stitch Tote

This technique was demonstrated by Erika in an A-Z Techniques club. Students saw how to transfer a design to fabric, then use Husqvarna Viking's true taper stitch to create an under-sea landscape. The final touch is a little bit of free motion work to add some more seaweed. We then used the embellished piece to make a pocket on a quilted tote bag. Lots of fun!

Coverstitch Jacket

This is Elsa's famous Coverstitch Jacket! With it, she won first place in the serger category at a recent Husqvarna Viking International convention. Elsa used an old boiled wool coat and cut it up to re-style it. Students can do the same or create a coat from scratch. They then use the coverstitch and chainstitch on the Huskylock 936 along with decorative trims and threads to embellish the jacket. The large opening on the 936 allows for the bulky body of the garment to be easily stitched. A final touch is the custom closure made of ribbon-yarn.

Each student received the design files for the basket liner, as well as instructions on how to complete it and the quilted bread basket.

Bobbinwork Messenger Tote

This is a fun class that we have run several times now. It is so fun to see how many different versions we can come up with! Students worked with thicker threads like YLI Pearl Crown and Candlelight in the Specialty Bobbincase. They created their designs from the reverse side of the fabric, then constructed the purse by following directions in Husqvarna Viking's "Bags" book.
